I just checked out Bishop’s Family Cycles in Kits by the Burrard st Bridge. Great little shop with a lot of options in a small space. This is what I wanted to build 15 years ago and now it’s here and real (been here 2yrs already, wow)

They have an Omnium (Bilenky style) in the window, lots of Reese and Mueller, Tern, Urban Arrow, Bullit, super light Woom kids bikes (kids need bikes that aren’t heavier than they are!). They have lots of urban gear. Rain ponchos including San Poncho from Vancouver Island. Great bells. Mud flaps. Frame locks. Waterproof lights. Lots of other things I forget now. Check them out. Bishop’s is associated with their original Victoria shop. Rob the owner is super cool.

There is also a bike store on Nanaimo called Velolifestyle which is associated with Montreal people. Embarrassingly, I’ve never gone over there yet. I met the owner a couple years ago at the cargo bike conference in the everything electric show at the Vancouver Convention Centre and I remember him being cool.

So lots of great cargo bike options now in Vancouver. I just wanted to post these links in case you are still finding my webpage in 2026 and I wanted to add some good news to it since the last 2015 update wasn’t very happy. Great news is cargo bikes are more popular and accessible than ever. You can go to these shops and buy a family vehicle today, no need to wait for some eccentric in his garage to build one in 6 months.
